As a kid in Tucson, Ben started making skate videos and 'crime dramas' with firecrackers as the gun shot sound effects. He played music and then studied film at Oberlin College before moving to Chicago where he further developed his skills in short-form documentary filmmaking by balancing his commercial projects for Leo Burnett with lower budget work for local artists, Vice, Pitchfork music festival, Stüssy, and vitaminwater. I'm a Brooklyn based video journalist. I have been shooting, editing and producing documentary tv, film, and web content for the past 10 years. I am interested in making news and documentary shorts with a strong focus on human interest stories. Social issue documentaries that touch on issues such as poverty, education, environmental issues and the arts are all areas i am interested in exploring. One project I'm most proud of over the past few years is a series of shorts I produced, shot and edited about severely wounded soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. The series, Beyond The Battlefield, was commissioned by The Huffington Post and was nominated for a webby award and was also attached to a pulitzer prize winning print series of the same name.
