Beatrice Katcher is a visual journalist who enjoys covering public health, technology, music, art and culture. She is an experienced photojournalist, writer, social media manager and web content producer. A native Detroiter, she received a BA in Journalism Honors from Wayne State University, and her undergraduate senior honors thesis was a multimedia project that focused on food security in Detroit. I'm a documentary filmmaker and journalist focused on telling character driven, personal stories that illuminate a universal social or political issue. I've tended to focus on Latin America, and have worked for Al Jazeera, Dateline NBC, Current TV and VPro. I'm a competent researcher, producer, cameraman, editor, still photographer and writer. Nothing makes me happier than taking a camera into a hard-to-access situation. So far that has included crack houses and sweatshops in Argentina, mail order bride agencies and guerilla organizations in Colombia, and meetings with hit men and scam artists across the US.
