Andreas Laras 60 years old, a molecular biologist working as a Ph.D. professor at the medical school of the University of Athens, owns one of the largest cacti collections in Europe. He often travels to Mexico where he collects seeds from various, rare species and then cultivates them in his greenhouse, currently having over 2,000 different species. According to him, many of the species he owns have become extinct in nature due to the human factor.

Harvesting these sponges is dangerous, and the risks don’t guarantee big rewards. Divers, or “the sponge men” as they’re called in Kalymnos, Greece, can find some of the most valuable sponges in the Mediterranean Sea. But these days, they're not so easy to come by. So what happened to the once-booming sea sponge population here? And why are these sponges so expensive?

There's a new addition to Greece's postal service: a fleet of yellow robots sorting through the mail. Fifty-five small, four-wheeled autonomous mobile robots -- or AMR's -- powered by artificial intelligence, glide around Hellenic Post's sorting centre in Athens, speeding up an often arduous process. They scan the postal code, weigh the package and, directed by sensors, empty it into the corresponding mail sacks set up around a platform. The robots are part of the state-owned company's digital restructuring programme, which aims to tackle growing numbers of parcels from online shopping during the coronavirus pandemic.
