In 2013 tests revealed the presence of horse meat in dozens of frozen meat products sold across Europe. Most purported to be beef and none listed horse meat on the packaging. We went to see Didier Dassonville, to check if and how this scandal has impacted his business.
Bullfighting is a tradition spectacle in some parts of Southern France. Although the popularity of the discipline has waned in the country, probably as a result of a growing awarness of animal-cruelty issues, in Arles, a small town an hour from Marseille, several youngsters practice this discipline, hoping to become professional bullfighters.
Before a bullfight, each lancer's (picadero's) horse has to be blinded and "dressed-up" in a protective padded covering, peto, so it doesn't get hurt by bull's horns.
