Rahima Gambo (b.1986) explores themes of postcolonial Nigerian identity, gender, history, memory and socio-political issues through long-term visual projects she began to formulate soon after completing her masters in Journalism in 2014.
Her images have been published on the New York Times, Time Lightbox Photojournalism daily, Financial Times, Camera Austria, Quartz Africa, Forskning & Framsteg, Omvärlden amongst others. She was nominated for the Foam Paul Huf Prize and listed as one of 15 Nigerian photographers to watch by the Nlele Institute.
Her work has been exhibited at the Nlele Institute Lagos Open Range and at the 2015 Bamako Biennale. Rahima was a 2014 Magnum Foundation Fellow and is an International Women's Media Foundation Fellow. She was awarded as a finalist in the LensCulture Emerging Talent Award 2016.
She has Masters from the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism (2014), Gender and Social Policy from the London School of Economics (2008) and BA in Development Studies from the University of Manchester (2007).
