ablo Benjamín Nieto Mercado (Mexico City, 1979) is an engineer and multimedia producer with a remarkable career that merges technology and creativity. His experience in the technological field includes roles as Project Leader and Consultant in Electronic Payment Methods at companies such as Punto Clave - EDENRED, Optima Technology, and SwitchGATE. With expertise in the design of transactional and bank correspondent architectures, he has led key projects such as the management system for gasoline voucher cards and the development of the ISO 8583 Switch and Transactional Core for Edenred, strategically connecting banks with retail stores. In the cinematic and cultural sphere, Pablo has stood out with a wide range of audiovisual and experimental productions. His work encompasses twenty albums, fourteen installations, thirty short films, and the feature film "The Basin of the Stone Rivers," with which he participated in Bolivia Lab 2016, winning the Pitch Award for Latin American Projects. This feature film has received support from institutions such as Bolivia Lab and IMCINE in 2016, FONCA in 2017, and Doc Society in 2020. "The Basin of the Stone Rivers" has been selected in international film festivals and showcases, such as the AHORA Festival in Montevideo, Uruguay; Arthaus Winter Film Exhibition in Havana, Cuba; Humano CECUT Festival in Tijuana; Fragmented Image Encounter at the Autonomous University of Querétaro; and the UACM Tezonco Book Festival. Additionally, it has won first place at the Tukuru 2020 Film Festival and has been recognized and featured in international festivals. Pablo has also gained recognition for his short film "Bodies of Water," selected in 2019 at GEOFILMFESTIVAL in Cittadella, Italy; Video Art Forum in Dammam, Saudi Arabia; The Itinerant Cinema of La Bête Rouss in France; Docs Buenos Aires; and FICMA 5.0. His Webdoc ATL received first place at the 2020 Image Encounter "New Documentaries" at the Autonomous University of Querétaro and was selected by Art Hole magazine in London. In 2021, WebDoc ATL participated in the interactive exhibition "The Castle" at Arthousehaus in London and the DigitalKunst Festival in Stuttgart, Germany. Additionally, his short film "Invasion" was presented at the Cinema di Cefalù Festival, FilmÓptico, Music Maker Festival, Miradas Locales, Mexican Cinema Day, and the collective exhibition "Conceiving, Naming, Saying" at the Centro de la Imagen. His sound production includes works edited on netlabels such as Noise Entertaiment (MEX), Paax (MEX), Torn Flesh Records (USA), Surrism-Phonoethics (DEU), Plasticrane (ITA), Intox Noise (RUS), WakuShoppu (CZE), Editora du Porto (BRA), and Anything Records (JPA). Additionally, he has participated in compilations with Mosquito Recordings (MEX), EventNow (GBR), Torn Flesh Records (USA), Audition Records (DEU), and Ifar Label (GBR). He has presented his live improvisation act in Mexico, Puebla, Rome, and Prague.
