Miss Queen International is the world's most prestigious beauty pageant for trans women. Rana Thamrin follows several women chasing that title in Thailand and explores the role pageant competitors can play in changing perspectives of trans people. I was tasked with being drone operator and second-camera operator for and episode of Vice's 'Transnational'.
Ground-breaking technology is empowering Indigenous Peoples in Papua New Guinea to monitor deforestation and forest degradation on their land. Elsewhere new processes are generating wood-based textiles for use in the fashion industry, drone technology is helping us fight fires, and new approaches to construction are opening the door to large-scale use of sustainable wood to replace less climate friendly building materials. I shot and edited the short segment on PNG for FAO's IDF campaign.
Since 1990, over 420 million hectares of forest have disappeared. To combat this, AIM4Forests, a programme by the FAO and the UK, aims to halt deforestation and restore degraded land by 2030 using advanced technology. I shot, edited and helped produce this short video piece that helped to launch the FAO's 2024 International Day of Forests Campaign.

Unlike some countries, the forests of Papua New Guinea belong to the people, not the State. The support of local communities is therefore critical for environmental protection. In PNG, 97% of land is owned by the people and this is empowered by the constitution of the country. In order to conduct a National Forest Inventory, the rights of the landowners must be respected. Papua New Guinea’s National Forest Inventory, supported by the UN-REDD Programme, not only educates local communities about the importance of its forests, but it also creates jobs. Many of the indigenous community members work as research assistants, drivers, porters and cooks, helping PNG to support capacity-building and create new jobs while conserving its forests.
Before the pandemic, close to 8 million Americans were already using technology to work remotely. Many are entrepreneurial millennials piecing together freelance gigs anywhere in the world, as long as there’s wifi. These digital nomads, like Erick Prince and Mike Holp, enjoy having the freedom to set their own hours and locations, and are leading the conversation about the changing world of work.

Since the approval of the FIFA COVID-19 Relief Plan in June made USD 1.5 billion available to assist the football community through the global pandemic, over 150 FIFA member associations have made applications for funding. In many countries, such as Thailand, the relief plan has had an immediate effect, with the domestic league restarting.
