My name is Konstantin Salomatin.
I am a multimedia journalist based in Moscow, Russia. My passion is covering human interest stories and finding something extraordinary in everyday life.
In 2017 I have expanded my professional interest to documentary filmmaking.
Since then, I have been shooting documentaries and news video for various international media platforms including Radio Free Europe/Current time tv (Russia), Eurasianet, The Economist, Vox Pot (Czech Republic), Romb (Russia), infoNetwork (Germany).
I started a career as a photojournalist in 2002 working for various local newspapers, and in 2009 started to work as a freelancer with Russian Reporter magazine. As a photographer, I have worked for many international media, such as NRC Handelsblad (The Netherlands), Le Monde (France), NPR (US), Expert magazine, Ogonyok magazine, Russian Reporter magazine, Chicago Tribune, Kommersant, Geo magazine Russia, Newsweek (Russia), China Daily, Sports Net Magazine (Canada), among others.
Awards
2019 - Redkollegia award for the documentary “Shies under the siege”.
2019 - “Profession journalist”, Berlin, for the text reportage “Clockwork Mandarin” about Xinjiang repressions.
2012 - Leica Oscar Barnac top ten, for the photo project “The End” about the community of people who awaits the apocalypse.
