Episode 7 follows Mati Waiya, a revered Chumash ceremonial elder upholding both traditional ancestral heritage and customs whilst managing the immense task of articulating very current and relevant concerns for the environment.

Fred is an 81 year old body surfer. He first went in the ocean at 12 years old, since then he has body surfed everyday of his life. He body surfs in just trunks. it doesn't matter how cold the water temperature is when he gets out of the water he warms himself up by lying on the sand. He's been stung by stingrays 3 times, his heart has stopped and he now surfs with a pacemaker.
