About

I am a photographer, video journalist and writer based in the Middle East. I trained as a press photographer in the UK and cut my teeth working for national publications before moving to Iraqi Kurdistan In 2013. I became picture editor and trainer at Metrography, Iraq's first photo agency, where I mentored photographers and worked to raise the profile of Iraqi photojournalism on the international stage. After leaving Metrography, I covered the rise and fall of the Islamic State in Iraq and the changing fortunes of Iraqi Kurdistan and worked across the Middle East and further afield. I am a regular collaborator with Raw Music International, making short films about music in changing places. With RMI I've produced films from Iraq, Myanmar, Ukraine and Mongolia. My work has been published in the Guardian, Le Monde, Der Spiegel, Neon Magazine, Neue Zurcher Zeitung, Die Zeit and CNN, amongst others. My video work has appeared on NBC.com, Time.com, Al Jazeera America, CNN/Great Big Story.
