I freelance for IPS News, India Together, PTI, All India Radio, Gyanvani FM Radio, WDR TV in Germany, and I have done video assignments for PBS's Assignment Earth on Yahoo. I am interested in doing wildlife documentaries and disaster management documentaries / features.
To mark the occasion of Rio +20 I was asked by IPS to make a film on sustainable development of people below the poverty line ... with a message for conservation. I was commissioned to o a short film of 6 - 8 minutes on sustainable dam managagement to mark the transition from MDGs to SDGs at the dawn of 2015. The topics offered included sustainable livelihoods or sustainable dams management, I chose to do the latter primarily because I am very drawn to the Elements and I already had footage of dams. I could also visualise interviews with footage available
I had to do the research, interviews, film direction, script, PR in pre production, and then write the script, oversee the editing and rough cut before submitting all visals and script etc. The final cut was the done at the studio in Atlanta, USA.
I was contracted as assistant director and also got the credit for that. I was responsible for the entire pre production of this film in India, including recce, location planning preliminary interviews, translations, equipment hire PR, transport and travel. I also had to do script research and planning of visualisation.
