Emmanuel Abankwah's story: Training the trainers for sustainable palm oil production in Ghana
In this video, Mr. Emmanuel Abankwah from the Agona East District in Ghana talks about his experiences with the Africa Palm Oil Initiative's 'Training the Trainers' programme. This programme, implemented by the Africa Palm Oil Initiative (APOI) Ghana team, aims to increase smallholder palm oil productivity through the adoptiong of best management practices. Three ‘training the trainers’ courses delivered across the Ashanti, Central, Western, Eastern, Volta and Brong Ahafo regions in 2018 equipped field officers with new knowledge and techniques that they could then share with the smallholders they work with. Thanks to this training, best management practices are now becoming the norm, not the exception – something that wouldn’t have happened without the APOI. The APOI is coordinated by Proforest on behalf of the Tropical Forest Alliance (TFA). This training was delivered in partnership with Solidaridad.
