BELLEVILLE NEWS-DEMOCRAT -- See how this local middle school is teaching 9/11 to students born after the attacks
Dyshunda Curtis, a social studies teacher at Mason/Clark Middle School in East St. Louis, is having her 8th-grade students write letters to 9/11 first responders and make drawings as a way to incorporate the day’s events into the curriculum. Curtis says the special project is used as a way to discuss race, religion, tolerance, and diversity with students who weren’t alive during 9/11.
