Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
2 reviews$600 - $2000 / Day
Request QuoteComing from England, I started out my career through the indie film route; which specifically was done in my roles as a storyboard artist and cinematographer. This later saw me evolved into the director that I am today. Since the summer of 2015 I have based myself in Vietnam where I have been working throughout South East Asia as a director, which has seen me working on a mix of commercials, viral videos, documentaries and short films. It is from there where I also won Best Documentary Feature Film for 'Take Me Home'; which was granted by the Sydney World Film Festival. It is my intention to continue this rich vein of inspiration that Vietnam affords me. I endeavour to work with like-minded people and will continue to pursue my job and passion as a director and filmmaker.

April 30, 2020, marks 45 years since the end of the Vietnam war, when Communist forces from the north captured Saigon, the capital of the democratic south. Michael Burr served in the US Air Force and was posted to Saigon in 1970, teaching English to members of Vietnam’s air force. He also had a camera with him and spent his free time taking thousands of photos of wartime Vietnam. Nearly five decades later, Burr returned to Saigon, renamed Ho Chi Minh City after the war, to visit his old living quarters, reminisce about old times and share his extensive photo collection with local people. The trip also proved to be an emotional experience, taking Burr back to an unforgettable time in his youth.

I directed, shot and edited this viral video about an artist from Myanmar who created water spray murals. It was shot over two days with a B camera operator, using Sony FS7, Sony As7 mark II, Go Pro cameras, and also 5D mark III for time lapse.
I directed this documentary about the first ever WWE style wrestling team in the history of Vietnam. They are basically reluctant business administration students striving to achieve their dream to be like the John Cenas of the wrestling world.
A showreel of documentaries that I have made across South-East Asia
Winner of Best Documentary Film at the Sydney World Film Festival 2018, I directed, shot and edited, for a documentary film about an Australian English teacher who had a massive stroke in Vietnam before going to class as any normal day. After that, he was stranded in hospital with a 3rd of his brain, dead! Abandoned by his family, he was stuck in his own hell!
