In a community in the region of Sédhiou, Senegal, mangoes and cashews are two of the main crops produced. Both types of tree require bee pollination for optimal development. Apiarist Méthia Mane and Peace Corps volunteer Tyler Beerley selected six members of the women's group, Nafa, to attend a three-day beekeeping training. The women's group, which owns a cashew orchard, will benefit from the sale of honey and improve cashew tree production. This project provided the knowledge and skills for attendees to start practicing sustainable beekeeping methods in their community.
