About

Maheder is an Ethiopian documentary photographer/Videographer born and based in Addis Ababa. She has a very rich experience working with numerous non-profit organizations, documenting and telling important stories for more than six years. Maheder also freelances for major news agencies like AFP, Reuters and Mongabay and is also a member of international associations such as Women Photograph. Moreover, Maheder has been accepted to numerous prestigious programs like World Press Photo Masterclass East Africa and New York Times Portfolio review 2019 and has made a presentation at World Press Photo, Netherlands 2018 and RAY Festival, Germany, 2018. She is also a contributor for @everydayafrica on Instagram and has recently founded Center for Photography in Ethiopia (CPE), a learning and discussion platform for Ethiopian Photographers. She recently curated a photography exhibition titled “Baxxe:Home” and has also co-edited a photography publication titled Against Gravity.
