I am a multimedia journalist who has been reporting at the intersection of food, culture, and economics for seven years. New York has proven to be such a rich vein for this kind of storytelling that I've built my freelance career with profiles, features, and long-form stories on food, cooks, producers, consumers, immigrants, urban history, and the ever-changing communities of the city. In 2012 I produced, filmed, and edited an award-winning documentary on the first commercial "sugar shack" of Quebec. I am now working on a second documentary, about the unusual success and unfortunate fate of a hole-in-the-wall diner in Albany, California. My ongoing web video series, "1 Minute Meal", invites viewers to leave the glamorized world of chefs, famous restaurants, and critics to experience more essential moments in New York's food culture.
