Mudassar Shah is a freelance video, radio and print journalist based in Pakistan. Fluent in Pashto, Urdu and English, he reports regularly from the Federally Administrated Tribal Areas, including Waziristan, the Swat Valley, Islamabad, and Afghanistan. He files regularly for Free Speech Radio News, Asia Calling, and various other radio including DW and print media organizations. His reporting focuses on socioeconomic issues that affect Pakistanis and Afghans, such as music, the conditions in refugee camps, the effects of Sharia law on tribal communities, the collapse of Pakistani’s judicial system and health related issues including AIDS. Mudassar has been writing articles and analysis for different local and international newspapers regularly on different issues. A native of Fata, he holds six master’s of arts degrees, including mass communications and Islamic studies. He also speaks conversational Farsi and Punjabi.
