Born in Caracas, Venezuela, and raised in Mexico for 12 years, Andrea Carolina Lopez is a graduate from the Film mention of the Escuela de Artes de la Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV) and the Curso General de Guión at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica ( CCC) in Mexico. She has written and directed around a dozen TV documentary reports for public television of her country, and has also produced and directed two short films and two documentaries medium-length films made independently, in which she has participated in photography and editing. She has also making corporate videos and write TV series chapters for TV.
Winner of several national and international awards for her medium lenght documentary films: “Los Olvidados de Clemente” (2004) and “La Cuarta Gracia” (2011), Andrea has worked as an assistant and writer for soap operas on national and international channels in Mexico. She has taught screenwriting and documentary at the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences at UNAM and Cinefilias. She currently serves as Academic Coordinator of the Post Graduate Course in Documentary Film from producer and distributor company Artegios.
In addition to her audiovisual activity, Andrea has taken several courses of English at Hamilton School of Indiana, at The New School University, Columbia University, and the Park Slope Armory YMCA, among others. She writes stories, academic essays and encyclopedic entries, in which she has also received awards.
Actually, she lives in Madrid, Spain.
