Thais Drassinower is a Peruvian filmmaker who graduated with High Honors from one of the most prestigious advertising programs at The University of Texas at Austin. She then moved to Chicago to work as a copywriter at the worldwide headquarters of Leo Burnett for Lápiz; their Hispanic creative shop. She wrote commercial scripts and traveled around the continent to shoot them: Mexico City, Buenos Aires, New York, San Francisco. While on set she fell in love with the world of directing and decided to make the jump. She is now finishing her last year of a MFA in Film Directing at Columbia University in the City of New York. Her previous work in advertising has been awarded at international creativity festivals such as El Ojo de Iberoamérica and the U.S.H Hispanic Idea Awards. Her first short film “Memories of The Sea" was an Official Selection at various international film festivals including Palm Springs Shortfest and Aspen Shortsfest, two of the top 5 film festivals for short films in the world. It was chosen "Best of the Fest" at the New York International Children Film Festival and was taken on a tour across America to be showcased in various cities. She is currently developing a documentary that has already shot in Paris, NY, Aspen and is currently getting ready to shoot in Poland.She is also in post production of her second short film "Baby" which received the prestigious Jame Bridges Production Award. Thais hopes to establish herself as a Latin American filmmaker based in the USA who tells stories that connect with all audiences.
