Request QuoteI am Verdiana, class 1992. After high school I started studying Biology at university as I had that Romantic dream of a wild life close to nature. I found myself locked in a lab most of the time, and I was sad. After more than one year of bacteria and micro-organisms I dropped out lab to give myself a chance following my real passion: Music and Sound, even though I had no idea where it would have brought me. I applied for the Sound Engineering and Music Production course at Saint Louis College of Music, in Rome. I have always been attracted by the chance of handle sounds and make art by physical and mathematical considerations. I found it also very intriguing to work closely with those fascinating and complex artistic characters. During my studies I had the chance to learn and explore the different fields of the audio professions: live concerts, recording studios, sound design, music production, mastering. I was the one dreaming of working in a big and important recording studio, being part of great and prestigious productions… and actually it happened! During my last year at university I became the studio assistant at Bloom Recording studio, one of the most important studios in Rome: huge productions, incredible outboard and analog gear, beautiful mixing and recording areas etc, I really enjoyed it… for a while… The only totally unexplored field for me was the “Audio-Video Post-Production”. It happened to be in my personal phone book, the number of Andrea Guerra, one of the most important Italian soundtrack’s composers. I called him (it took me an entire day to get the courage) and I told him I was intrigued and interested in the production and post-production process of film music. Without even realizing it, I found myself working as his personal Music Editor and assistant and receiving priceless lessons from his great experience. I was on TV shows, films and shorts and commercials. I used to be part of every process of creating a soundtrack: from the preproduction to its final mix. I felt that this was definitely what I loved. While working with Andrea, I have been writing my university final project about the complex relationship between Music and Pictures. I studied their synaesthesia applied to the aesthetics of cinema and to the functionality of advertising. I do strongly believe that who works with music and sound, especially if applied to images, should master and control every single aspect of these two powerful media, not just the technical one: culture, psychology, structures, methods, meanings etc. exercise a primary role to achieve the best possible result for a product of excellence. After my graduation I moved to Manchester where I have been working at Futureworks and had the chance to grow as a Sound Designer and Mixer engineer for motion picture. Currently I live between Rome and Manchester and freelancing
