My passion is based around documentary filmmaking, which is a huge influence on how I generally shoot my projects. Originally a cinematographer, cameraman I'm familiar with a wide variety of filming styles and equipment ranging from handheld cameras to drones and integrate this knowledge in my shoots. I am a video journalist, currently freelancing for BBC Arabic and Associated Press Television Network, with an MA in TV and Digital Journalism from the American University in Cairo. I have had the opportunity to work in field broadcasting, both in Cairo for AUCTV and internationally for Al Ghad Al Arabi in Washington DC, and in the Danish School of Media and Journalism in Denmark. Marouan Omara lives and works in Cairo. He is a documentary filmmaker, his works have a dreamlike notion, overlapping fiction and reality by it's direct respond to the surrounding and closeness to everyday experiences. Marouan film’s have been selected for many of the most established film festivals and granted many international awards. Marouan currently works as an adjunct professor for film production at the American University in Cairo. He also works closely to Fig Leaf Studios, an independent company that leads many international co-productions in Egypt.
