Artem Nazarov grew up in Penza, Western Russia. The son of a photographer, he was surrounded by his father’s cameras throughout his childhood and has always felt at home in a darkroom. These early experiences stirred his curiosity and sparked his love for and pursuit of photography as a profession. In 2003, after specializing in Intellectual Property law at the Moscow School of Social and Economic Science, Nazarov immigrated to the United States. He moved to Atlanta in 2008 to continue his education at the Portfolio Center, with a concentration in photography. Nazarov finds inspiration in the stories of people from all over the world whom he meets during his travels and assignments. He believes photography is a spectacular way to explore the world, enriching and transforming life beyond the threshold of perceived reality. Gabriela Díaz Arp is an independent director and producer passionate about the ways visual language can deepen human understanding and connection. She has directed and produced a number of independent films, exhibits and interactive experiences, as well as co-founded production companies Rabbit Raccoon and Las Palmas Studio. Some of her clients include New York Times, Blue Chalk Media, CNN International, Univision, Emory University and the United Nations. She is currently working on her first feature film in her motherland of Puerto Rico. The film, Matininó, tells the story of a multi-generational family of women transforming their experience with domestic violence and misogyny into a science fiction film. Her last film, Meeting a Monster, which explores the memories and motivations of former white supremacist Angela King through a virtual reality experience, premiered at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival and was shown at festivals around the world including Cannes NEXT, Sheffield Doc Fest, Atlanta Film Festival and New Orleans Film Festival. Gabriela has a Master's in Visual Communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has been a Knight Fellow with the Sundance Institute, a participant in Oculus’s VR for Good program, and most recently a Studio IX grantee, honoring her work as both a mother and filmmaker.

Currently, I’m a freelance photo editor at CNN Digital, although “freelance” is a bit of a misnomer since I work nearly full-time. Since June 2019, I work with a team of photo editors to license the best photography on the wires for nearly all stories on CNN.com. By choosing engaging photographs for our homepage and story card images, we help stories be seen by millions. We also create news-driven photo galleries for ongoing and breaking news events, as well as source imagery for other CNN franchises, such as CNN Travel, Business, Style and more. Getty Images is one of our main sources for finding relative, newsworthy images to pair with our stories. Through this job, I’ve become familiar with many Getty Images staff photographers’ work and the Getty Images interface that clients use to download photos. I am also a regular freelance photographer at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the Athens Banner-Herald in Athens, Georgia.
