Hello friend! My name is Jason, and I wanted to tell you a little bit about who I am and how I got here. I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, where as a young kid, I earned the nickname, Creative Boy, due to my constant outflow of youthful creative energy. Whether it was performing for my family, building things out of toilet paper rolls, writing stories on the Word Processor, filming skits with my cousin, or learning how to use a computer, I was constantly pushing the limits of my creative mind. In 2003, I ended up in New York City, where I went to NYU Film School and earned my BFA. My college education set the foundation for a career in the arts and entertainment industry. And I’ve had an incredible career so far! I’ve traveled the world with my video camera in hand, from Beijing to Haiti, Bonnaroo to SXSW, and the Grammys to the Oscars. I’ve gotten the chance to talk to amazing people, film and edit inspiring stories, and make friends, all while staying true to my creative nature and drive! My passion is telling stories, and I’ve found that the best way for me to do that is through documentary filmmaking. Documentaries allow me to craft a story, and put the puzzle pieces into the right place. I can apply my skills as a musician as well, as music and rhythm are a huge part of any documentary project. I'm a freelance filmmaker and video journalist focused primarily on documentary projects. I'm currently picking up short-term gigs as a Freelance Producer, Editor, or Videographer while I work on a part-time commissioned short documentary based out of Nebraska. I most recently finished working on a project with production company Meerkat Media on a commission from Sesame Street in Communities. The project entails documentary-style educational videos about how to talk to kids about race and racism through observing real families in conversation with their children. Prior to delving into full-time freelance life, I worked as an Associate Producer on seven feature-length historic documentaries produced by CNN Specials as well as an observational film produced by HBO Max/CNN Films. Independently, with my production partner Sana A. Malik, I produced, shot, and edited the student BAFTA-award winning documentary, Guanajuato Norte. The film follows a migrant farmworker in Connecticut and his sacrifice of being away from his family to provide a better life for his children. The film went on to screen multiple film festivals and was acquired by The New Yorker’s Documentary Channel. I also co-directed the short film, Chief Standing Bear's Journey to Statuary Hall, for the Nebraska Commission on Indian Affairs with Judi gaiashkibos (co-director and EP.) Together, we made a film to be used as an educational resource, following the historical story of Ponca Chief Standing Bear and the modern-day journey of building a statue of his likeness to stand in the U.S. Capitol. In addition to working as a Director/Producer on commissioned short films and personal projects, I love helping established Director’s visions come to life as an Associate Producer, Editor, or Second Camera. I’m easily curious but particularly drawn toward stories about migration, family, social justice, and the meaning of home.

Alex Pritz is an Emmy and Peabody Award-winning documentary filmmaker based in New York City. Recently, Alex directed The Territory, which premiered at Sundance 2022 where it won both the Audience Award and a Special Jury Award for Documentary Craft. The Territory was shortlisted for the 2023 Academy Awards, nominated for three Critics Choice awards, a Gotham Award, a Producers Guild Award, and a record seven Cinema Eye Honors where it won for Best Debut Feature. The Territory was named a NYT Critics Pick, and was acquired by National Geographic Documentary Films for a theatrical release in the United States, Canada, the UK, Brazil, Aotearoa/New Zealand, and the Netherlands. The film is now available globally on Disney+. Alex won an Emmy for his work as a cinematographer on the feature documentary The First Wave (dir. Matt Heineman). Hello there! My name is Spencer Bruttig and I am a Washington, D.C. based film producer, DP and editor. William Martin is a BAFTA nominated documentary filmmaker focused on gender inequality, immigration, queer rights, and climate change. He graduated in 2021 with a master's in journalism, with a focus on News and Documentary. He also has a bachelor of arts degree from NYU Tisch in photojournalism. With funding from the Fund for Investigative Journalism and as a migration fellow with the Ground Truth Project, William created a 30 minute documentary examining the Trump administration’s controversial choice to continue detaining asylum seekers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Celeste and Maria, two undocumented women, survived both COVID-19 and human rights abuses while detained at Otay Mesa ICE detention center in California. No Way, Which Way, was a BAFTA student film awards shortlist and was selected for the Toronto Women's International Film Festival. Most recently, William was awarded grants from BAFTA and the Fund for Investigative Journalism to explore how the U.S. Border Closure has impacted transgender asylum-seeking migrants in Mexico’s dangerous border cities in the midst of Covid-19. After two years, the short film, Sin Hogar (No Home), will be released this late Fall. Here's a preview of the content published with The New Humanitarian—selected for IQMF Amsterdam and Tulum WE film festivals. William was also a Great Big Story Genesis student fellow, one of four students globally awarded an opportunity to create a short film. His story, The Dolphins of Laguna, follows the fishermen of a small town in Southern Brazil who have been collaborating with dolphins for over 100 years to catch fish. Safico, 68 years-old, has been fishing with one particular dolphin, Caroba, for 45 years. Safico goes to great lengths to both protect and uphold the tradition of fishing with dolphins. With funding from National Geographic, his documentary, Daughters of Drought, investigated how Malawian women are impacted by climate change. The film won Best Short Documentary at the Toronto International Women Film Festival and will be published with WaterBear in August. His video journalism is currently featured in Time, Teen Vogue, The GroundTruth Project, BRIC Media, and Al Jazeera.

Ray Whitehouse (he/him) works at the intersection of documentary film and journalism. After growing up in Chicago, he lived in San Antonio, Texas, before moving to Washington, D.C. He works primarily as a director of photography. His feature-length directorial debut, A RUN FOR MORE, had its world premiere at Frameline in June 2022 and screened more than 30 festivals across the U.S. He served as the Second Unit DP on TO THE END, directed by Rachel Lears, which premiered at Sundance in 2022. BRING THEM HOME, a documentary short he co-directed and DP’d, premiered at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival in 2022. He was part of the Washington Post team that was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for reporting about the Capitol insurrection and its aftermath. He’s worked as a cinematographer on more than 20 documentary features and filmed, produced and edited projects for The New York Times, The Washington Post, TIME, and Univision, among others. He is community coordinator for the D.C. chapter of Video Consortium and a regional co-chair of the Documentary Producers Alliance. He holds an M.A. in documentary journalism from UNC Chapel Hill and a B.S. in journalism from Northwestern University. Hello! My name is Nacho Corbella and storytelling is my passion. I love shaping a story, shooting and been in the field, interviewing, and everything else content gathering entails. There's something athletic in the act. You put your whole body and mind into it. It's exhausting but tremendously fulfilling. I enjoy enormously assembling the puzzle of what a multimedia story is. Reviewing and selecting material, deciding which asset is best to convey what the story portrays. It's like writing, but far better. You can have the most beautiful images and incredible bits of audio, but if you don't know how to order them and ultimately make sense of them for the viewer, it's useless. It's like loose words on a piece of paper. That's what I love about editing: you're creating a language. It's a full on mind game. Multimedia is the type of work that I love engaging with and doing, but also the type of work that I think is meaningful and can promote change. I firmly believe is a medium that can reach people and spur them to understand issues fully and, consequently help bring change, especially when done with dedication and quality.

CUTTER HODIERNE is a documentary cinematographer. He has also worked as an award-winning feature film director. His debut feature film FISHING WITHOUT NETS, a story of pirates in Somalia told from the perspective of the pirates, won 'Best Director' at the Sundance Film Festival and was called "Sundance's most beautiful film" by The Wrap. Enrique Huaiquil is a Chilean-American award-winning cinematographer, photojournalist, documentary photographer, video editor, and graphic artist based in Northern Virginia. Over the past decade plus, our production studio has worked with major sports leagues, Fortune500 companies, online education platforms, and a wide range of commercial clients - in addition to producing our own documentary films. We are a full service agency specializing in all aspects of production from conception to delivery, for theatrical, TV, web, and mobile. Our green screen studio in Brooklyn features 4 edit bays and an equipment cage where we house our fleet of RED and Canon cinema cameras and lenses. Allison's work was nominated for two Gracie awards at CNBC, as well as Digiday's "Greater Good Award" at NBC News. In 2017, she won the Editor & Publishers' EPPY Award for best investigative documentary for her leadership and reporting on the closure of New York City's notorious jail Rikers Island, the Society of Professional Journalists' National Award for outstanding online reporting, Columbia Journalism School's Peter Keller Excellence in Editing Award and a Remi Award at the Houston International Film & Video Festival.

Justin Reyes has worked with storytellers, content creators, network marketers, designers, musicians, developers and creative agencies on video, social media platforms, still photography and concept creation. Years of production experience equipped Justin with tools such as producing and shooting both film and stills as well as editing, photo retouching, managing, troubleshooting and team building. Working with several large companies such as: NIKE, ADIDAS, BACARDI, GOOGLE, CARTIER, GREY GOOSE, HOWARD HUGHES, BUEMER and ALAM, Justin has transferred his knowledge and experience to his company JREY Productions. This has given him the opportunity to run his own productions and hire his own teams. Some of the artists JREY Productions has worked with are; DVINE, INDIGO GENERAL, YOUNG HYI, LARISSA KATE, WEALTHY COMMERCIALS, GYMZZY, KM3, PARIS, JCORP and ST ART NOW. Justin Reyes accomplished many goals while receiving many awards and scholarships, which gave him the opportunity to go to the School of Visual Arts to study cinematography. During this time, companies like SCHEIMPFLUG and MATTE PROJECTS approached him. Working at these establishments gave him both the knowledge in gear and business etiquette that makes him excel in his field. Justin has honed his talents in the film industry for JREY Productions, specializing in music videos, fashion shoots, corporate commercials, brand advertisement, events, lifestyle and fitness.
