11 reviewsAllison Otto is an award-winning documentary filmmaker, cinematographer, producer, visual journalist and licensed drone photographer. Her documentary short, The Love Bugs, was shortlisted for a 2019 International Documentary Association award in the Documentary Short category. She is a 2019 SFFILM + Catapult Film Fund grant recipient, a 2018 Roy W. Dean Grant recipient, and a 2018 and 2011 Telluride Mountainfilm Commitment Grant recipient. Her clients have included National Geographic, BBC America, NBC, the Sierra Club, the American Alpine Club, Outside Television and Lonely Planet. Her exclusive story of the discovery of a new invertebrate species was selected by National Geographic as one of their “Ten Best First-of-their-Kind” stories of 2016. That same year she also released "PROPERTY," an award-winning documentary short about a day in the life at the National Wildlife Property Repository. Her film was reviewed as one of the most “poignant, beautiful and emotionally moving” short films at the 2016 Port Townsend Film Festival. In 2013, Allison released her first film, Keeper of the Mountains, which was awarded a Mountainfilm Commitment Grant, won 15 awards, screened at over 30 film festivals around the world and was named “One of the Best Adventure Films of 2013” by Outside magazine. Allison graduated from Stanford University with a bachelor’s degree in Communications and a master’s degree in Sociology. She is FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certified for drone operations. When she’s not filming, the Colorado native can mostly likely be found exploring the mountains with her two dogs.
