I'm a freelance content creator based in Tuscaloosa, AL. In the past couple of years, I have had the opportunity to work with AOL's "In the Know Food," Visit Tuscaloosa, Rice University Athletics, Archaeology Now, First Service Credit Union, and Downtown Knoxville. Formerly, I was an associate producer for Discovery, Inc. producing long form shows for HGTV, and viral social assets for Travel Channel. Along with producing, I was also a videographer on most of these projects, including a shoot with former First Lady Michelle Obama. Trained at UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism, her speciality is documentary verite, but she also shoots drone footage with her own gear. Photographer and documentarian Ben Powell’s assignments as a cinematographer have taken him to communities around the world, while his documentary films as a director have focused on landscapes near and dear. His adopted home state of Texas and the obsessive characters (and celebrities) that collect its historical treasures play a central role in “Phil Collins and the Wild Frontier,” which premiered at the 2013 New Orleans Film Festival. His first feature documentary, BARGE, focuses on the culture of towboat workers not far from his home town of Cleveland, Mississippi and premiered at the 2015 SXSW Film Festival, going on to win Best Documentary Feature prizes at Indie Memphis and the Dallas International Film Festival. Powell has received received artist grants from the Austin Film Society and the Garrett Scott Documentary Development Grant, and holds a BFA in Film, Animation, and Video from the Rhode Island School of Design.

He has worked in media production since 2003, with experience ranging from marketing and promotional work to event videography, video journalism, and documentary film. Filmmaker Ben Powell aims to tell stories with humility and heart. He is a director and producer whose work has taken him a top mountains in Alaska, aboard barges down the Mississippi, and through Tokyo’s winding streets. His work invites us into deeper knowing of people and places that are often overlooked, subtly celebrating the beauty in the minutiae. Compelled to view the world through a lens since he was old enough to hold a camera, Ben has amassed a body of award winning work that has premiered at film festivals across the country. After graduating from Marquette University in 2010 with a degree in Advertising, Michael joined Jesuit Volunteer Corps for two years. During that time, he worked alongside the Lakota (Sioux) people in South Dakota at a Mission, serving as both a radio DJ and media specialist. Following his volunteer years, he traveled the country as a Development Officer for the same Mission where he volunteered. Wanting to combine his love for storytelling, marketing, and media, in 2015, Michael started his own production company in Mobile, AL, Motivation Media Inc. (MMI). As Creative Director, he has produced stories through video for non-profits as well as for multi-million dollar corporations. Michael loves to laugh and make others laugh, in particular, his beautiful wife and children.

I credit my passion for finding and telling stories to the many places I've lived through out my life. From the Deep South to the Northeast, I've kept my curiosity for different people and cultures open. I find seeking the stories of those who have persevered through some type of tragedy the most rewarding. I try to bring a unique perspective from their world to the viewer, often using symbolic b-roll, lots of music (when appropriate), and building trust to have them tell me the most intimate and personal information. However, I like the lighter side of the world, and will focus a good amount of attention on community matters-from unique local bands to shop openings.

Cam Bonelli is a Mississippi-made journalist and photographer who spent two years as an editor in the Bold North and currently resides in Laurel, Mississippi, where the hit HGTV show “Home Town” is filmed. Graduating from The University of Southern Mississippi with honors, Cam served their senior year as the executive editor for the student newspaper, The Student Printz, from 2016-2017. Currently, Cam works as a jack of all trades (photographer, videographer, writer and expert coffee maker) at the Laurel Leader-Call and formerly the Hattiesburg American. Cam graduated in June 2021 with master's degree in multimedia journalism at the University of Alabama.
