I have experience producing documentary films, writing feature articles, and packaging radio & TV pieces. I'm an American based in Bogotá, Colombia, with experience working in English, Spanish and French. In 2015, following dreams of being a full-time storyteller, I moved to India to co-direct a documentary about an orphanage outside the city of Hyderabad. Most recently, I served as the managing editor at Innovations | Stories, an online publication sharing the stories of social innovators all over the Global South. While at Innovations | Stories I designed and spearheaded a multimedia editorial strategy which allowed for more diverse content (a heavier focus on photo and video stories). As managing editor I supported video and photo freelance contributors from all over the world and designed storytelling trainings for social innovators to tell their own stories. I'm originally from Berkeley, California, USA and I earned my B.S. from the University of California, Davis in Community and Regional Development with a minor in Art Studio (focusing on video and photography). From 2010-2015 I directed a global education program called One World Youth Project (OWYP), based in Washington, DC. At OWYP I designed middle school (age 10-14) curriculum and trained university students to teach it around the world in their own communities. The program taught the children cross-cultural communication by empowering them to create and send video, photo, and written messages to their partner classroom abroad - all facilitated by trained university student volunteers. While serving as program director at OWYP I had the privilege of traveling around the world visiting schools and delivering trainings at universities. My work in education and the opportunity to see so much of the world made me realize I wanted to tell stories. Storytelling is the best form of education anyway.

Multimedia journalist, Laura Gamba was born and raised in Colombia. She graduated from law school, but decided early on she wanted to pursue a career in journalism. She started writing for a Colombian digital magazine and as the editor-in-chief of AlDerecho, the Law School newspaper. She earned her master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University, where she discovered a passion for radio. Laura reported, recorded and produced audio stories about the organ market in New York, drone regulations and the Zika virus, among others. She has worked for the Nuevo Herald in Miami and Los Informantes, an award winning Colombian TV journalistic program, yet she’s never forgotten her love for radio. Laura is currently working on her own podcast.

Born in Medellín, raised in Bogotá DC. Fascinated by story telling and worried by the world we live in. Growing up in a country like Colombia, submerged in such terrible conditions of injustice, hunger, illness and beauty makes it impossible to look the other way. I studied History, obsessed with memory recording and primary sources. The camera is my tool to keep track of those things that cant fit in my head any more, stories so robust that demand a couple extra TeraBytes. I expect to give voice to lost causes and ignored heroes. I do this for pleasure but sure hope to gain something more; Conscious perhaps, impact or at least leverage. In a world full of images you can´t help to think twice every time you want to press the “rec” button. Nonetheless, I have witnessed the power of light coming out of a camera, and I am confident this path is the optimal way to give light to certain matters. Richard McColl is a British-born, Colombia-based freelance broadcast and print correspondent, guide and hotelier. After studying modern languages at Exeter University, he pursued an MA in International Journalism in London and later became a Conflict Resolution Specialist at the Universidad Pontificia la Javeriana in Bogotá. He has been based in the Americas for 18 years and for the last twleve years has made Colombia his home, travelling between the capital and his guesthouse La Casa Amarilla in Mompóx.
