Raul Ariano is an award-winning Italian photographer based in Shanghai (China), specializing in portraits. He has always been captivated by the expressiveness of human faces and bodies, which can tell stories with no need for words or sounds. An observer of the margins, through his portraits, he has been telling the forgotten tales of those who are often invisible. Since 2014, he has opened a window for the world to peek into the lives of LGBTQ communities in China. Shocked by the first pandemic outbreak in the city of Wuhan, he directed his interest in outcasts into photographing the artificial and yet very real loneliness forced by the world’s first lockdown. Thanks to this project, entitled The Spring Has Yet to Come, Raul was selected to participate in the prestigious 2020 Eddie Adams Workshop, where he won the National Geographic Award. ,

About Wang Gang Feng Wang Gangfeng is credited as being the first freelance photographer in China. In 1981, equipped with a second-hand camera and expired film, he set out to record everyday images of men, women and children from all walks of life, and from all the ethnic groups of this vast nation. As of today, Wang has garnered a number of prizes and recognition in China and broad. In Shanghai, Wang now runs a photography studio “Gang of One” in one of the few remaining shikumen mansions in the neighborhood of Zhang Garden. Wang is famous for taking family pictures among the Zhang Garden neighborhood, which is a gateway to step inside the vanishing architecture and discover the authentic Shanghainese way of life. Wang’s photography style heightens the concept of “West meets East” with contracting colors and interesting composition.

Nicolas de Rougé (b. 1990, Paris) is a French documentary and people photographer. He specializes in reportage, industrial projects, portraiture, and event photography. He currently resides between Shanghai and Paris where he shoots for international brands, advertising agencies and the press. Nico also produces and directs video projects, and works as a TV host for Discovery Channel and CCTV. Having lived in Europe, South America, North America, Africa, and Asia has helped him develop a unique aesthetic sense and perception skills that he uses to tell stories with flair and elegance. His versatility, passion and understanding of clients needs have earned him the trust and respect of the people he works with. Nico strives for flexibility and delivering high quality images that create emotions and surpass expectations. His work is published in several countries.

Matjaž Tančič (1982) is lens-based artist working mainly on documentary and independent projects between China and Slovenia. His work explores the lines between documentary, portrait and art photography to engage with social and cultural issues. When it comes to commercial clients he had the pleasure to work with various brands such as Apple, Volvo, Porsche, General Electrics, Siemens, Ferrari, Louis Vuiton, Omega, Moet, WeWork, Coloplast to name a few. He has carried out projects for numerous publications such as The New York Times, Le Mond, Financial Times, the Guardian, Der Spiegel, Financial Times, Geo, National Geographic, Time and others.

I consider myself as a video/film generalist. I started playing with video-making stuffs since high school and really got a passion in this field since then. I love its beauty and vibrancy. I like all kinds of visual storytelling modes, including videography, photography and 3D composition. I graduated from Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in 2015 and received a master's degree in journalism.
