Andrea Kurland is Executive Creative Director at TCO, a creative agency and the makers of Huck and Little White Lies. Both are premium print magazines, websites and film channels that celebrate independent culture and film respectively. Prior to starting at Huck in 2006 – just before the first issue went to press – Andrea studied International Development and Politics followed by a postgraduate diploma in Journalism. Since 2010, she's directed Huck's editorial line, overseeing original photography, journalism and short film commissions from ideation through edit to publication, and now oversees all editorial output from white-label brand work for TCO's wide range of clients, through to brand partnerships as well as owned-brand content. In her personal work as a writer and filmmaker, she is drawn to human stories that unfold on the fringes, at the pressure points where counterculture and power politics collide. As an editor, Andrea is interested in the creative potential of transmedia storytelling and is working to bring Huck’s editorial voice to life as films, digital experiences, books, events, photography exhibitions and workshops. Danny Copeland is a freelance, self-shooting Producer-Director and multi-media specialist focused on creating impactful films and creating strategic digital content that revolves around science and the natural world - particularly our oceans. Danny has been working at the intersection of conservation, underwater media, and documentary for the last 10 years. For several years he worked at the Manta Trust - a non-profit focused on the conservation of manta rays, where he produced, shot and edited multimedia campaigns and content to help fundraise and deliver policy wins. As a freelancer, he regularly works with other marine conservation and research institutions, including the Blue Marine Foundation, to capture evergreen media assets for use across their slate of projects. In the mainstream media world, Danny worked as a Field Producer and timelapse camera operator on the Netflix feature documentary, Chasing Coral. Between 2019 - 2023, he spent 3 years working as an Assistant Producer-Director at the BBC Natural History Unit, including on the Coast and Oceans episodes of an Attenborough-led blue chip natural history series called Prehistoric Planet. He has worked alongside world-leading shark scientists, assisted National Geographic photographers on assignment, and spent a year sponsored as the European Rolex Scholar in 2015. Currently Danny focuses on juggling commercial and client work related to the underwater world and social justice / issues, alongside spearheading his own passion projects - all with the ultimate goal of utilising multi-media and storytelling to drive tangible conservation action for the benefit of our oceans and wider planet. I've worked in the industry for over 6 years, starting off as a humble delivery driver supplying productions around the UK with all the optical, camera, lighting and grip equipment they needed. Today I love working behind the camera, whether as a self-shooting PD or working alongside a full crew, I just love to shoot. But it's not all camera camera camera for me. About me: I'm an enthusiastic and energetic young creative looking to expand my skill set and forge strong professional relationships in the film and media industry. My skills and experience: Starting off my creative career as a volunteer for a conservation program, I was tasked with conducting interviews with park rangers and documenting human and wildlife conflict on video to present to donors of the institution. This all culminated in a live streaming event from a remote location in Africa. I moved to London from Cape Town in 2021 and immediately began networking with other creatives and polishing my skills. I now run the social media for The Elgin, a pub in Nottinghill and am often contracted by the franchise to create content for the other pubs in their portfolio.
