In the heart of the Selva Maya rainforest, it’s a race against time. Cave diver Jose Urbina Bravo and his fellow activists are striving to stop the construction of Mexico's largest-ever infrastructure project: the Maya Train. They embark on a series of expeditions to survey its impact on wildlife and the environment, below ground. Amid a legal challenge to halt development, they continue exploring the region's intricate underground cave system, desperate to document what will be lost.
"Las Amazonas," a softball team of Indigenous Mayan women are starting a revolution. Maria Enedina Canul Poot and her team play barefoot, and in traditional clothing. In Yaxunah, gender inequality is a constant presence, and playing softball is an act of rebellion. But men who were once critical of the players now show up to support the team. Las Amazonas are farmers, embroiderers, shepherds, and cooks—taking aim at Mexico’s macho culture and smashing stereotypes with every swing of the bat.
