Request QuoteMy studies in Journalism and History put me on the path of film through documentary filmmaking. I started working as a camera operator and editor in various production companies. In 2016, I directed my first feature-length documentary on the creation of a cabaret in Paris. In the meantime, I developed my craft and took a liking into other forms of visual storytelling including fiction and advertising. In 2018 I produced a number of brand content videos for the language app Babbel.

Originally from Chicago, Susie Kahlich began to practice martial arts after being violently assaulted by several men. Having become one of the few women to teach self-defense, she found "Pretty Deadly," a course that stands out from others for its philosophy rooted in women' daily experiences. Susie designed a course specifically tailored for Muslim women, in which refugees are welcome for free.
Portrait of the Berlin Based 70 years old DJ
Twenty years ago, a stranger violently attacked Susie in her own home. To heal this trauma, she decides first to learn martial arts, then to teach women self-defense. This documentary puts her story in perspective with television archives on women's safety and self-defense from the 1970s, the time of her childhood. They show the same fears, the same rages and the same solutions as the ones debated today. This parallel aims to highlight the weariness of every woman who needs to face this social issue throughout her life, while also offering an example of resilience and some of the keys to not letting fear of danger take control.
