Old Men Singing
Founded in 1949, Cayuga's Waiters is Cornell University's oldest a cappella group. The original members were the rock stars of their day. They recorded albums and traveled together and even appeared on 'The Perry Como Show' to promote their Midwest tour. While the group continues on campus to this day, the original members graduated and went their separate ways, working jobs and raising families. There was no contact for 50 years when, out of the blue, Charlie Wolf '55 wrote a letter to his old singing buddies and invited them to reunite. And a new tradition was born. In our short doc, OLD MEN SINGING, we tell their story as they return to campus for a reunion weekend to reminisce, settle old scores and find out if they still have what it takes to perform together. This is a story about the enduring power of music and the families we choose, from journalist and first-time director Mickey Rapkin (whose book 'Pitch Perfect' inspired the franchise) and director Zack Weil (founder and operator of Contact Light Films)
