Nick was excellent to work with. The footage he shot was great and the end project needed minimal tweaking.
I was the producer and cinematographer on this project for Business Insider's World Wide Waste doc series. PVC is one of the most common plastics. It's also one of the least recycled. Now, two sisters in South Africa run a company that turns old or broken PVC pipes into homewares sold around the world.
I was grateful to have filmed and directed this spoken word poem by Onalerona Seane, a South African spoken word artist and activist. Ona believes it is important for men, as "the cause and the cure" of GBV, to speak up. But he has also faced a backlash from men and lost friends over his stance. Last Seen is a powerful poem against Gender Based Violence in South Africa.
A Global Citizen initiative in collaboration with Manchester City to promote clean water and environmental protection globally. I filmed the South Africa element of this video, along with a talented team which included producer Ntshepeng Motema and Sound Recordist Molatu Mathebula.
West African architects are reviving ancient building methods that make it easier to stay cool as temperatures climb. I contributed footage from South Africa used at the opening of the film.
This video feature for Africa Matters on TRT World looks at a movement to promote reading culture in Soweto Townships. We meet those using innovative ways to make books fashionable and reverse the Apartheid legacy of under-educating the black majority.
