As a photographer, she was part of the El Diario de Juarez team that was awarded the Maria Moors Cabot Prize in 2011 for their narco violence report in Juarez, Mexico. Her images and visual reports have appeared in media such as Al Jazeera, BBC London, Associated Press, Brut, Verdens Gang, Der Spiegel, among others. Alicia also has been a staff multimedia producer, as well as a photography and video editor for the Spanish newspaper El Pais in its Latin American version. She has been a fixer, field producer and contributor with international media, independent journalists and researchers. Also, she has contributed to training and protection organizations for journalists such as the International Center For Journalists (ICFJ) and Article 19. Also she is a fellow for the International Women's Media Foundation (IWMF). She has worked on independent projects such as The Red Note podcast, as researcher and interviewer. She also works as a consultant for journalistic multimedia projects and workshops instructor. Along with Andalusia K. Soloff had coordinated and created the project: "Fixers, opening paths to global journalism", in order to encourage the local journalism that supports international reporting.

The crisis is making the raramuris loose their traditions and became similar to fabric workers.
