Kenya's capital hosts the largest landfill in Kenya known as Dandora, which is also the home to Kenya's hip hop movement. A hip hop musician known as Juliani is using music and social activism to empower the local youths on art, entrepreneurship and recycling, as away to wade them off crime and the negativity associated with the landfill.
Pamela Kosgei is a young steeplechase runner eager to do well through hard work, guided by her coach and former marathon runner, Eric Kimaiyo, at the Kapsait Athletics Training Camp.
Led by Educate!, this Accelerator was launched to provide a series of skills-based, intensive training bootcamps, and also a pathway to a safe and sustainable livelihood by equipping out-of-school youth with the skills they need to succeed in the Kenya's high-growth informal economy. This project covered all these aspects of the organization.
This project follows three sports women who have qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics but the COVID-19 pandemic forces the games to be postponed to 2021. In the midst of social distancing requirements, cessation of movements, curfews and lockdowns, the women have adapted to training under these conditions, and are gearing up for the games one year away.
