For over 10 years I've been working on numerous narrative and commercial productions as well as broadcasting sports and music events and directing and shooting musicvideos. I'm a freelance colorgrading teacher at SAE Institute Bochum, GER. In 2019 I've directed my first award winning short drama and specialized in colorgrading and cinematography. Over the years I've been able to build a network of highly skilled professionals in every branch of the film industry to tackle creative tasks of any kind. Since my first days in the business I've been known as a problem solver, always having the greater picture in mind to envision each task as yet another challenge to beat. Baba D invited me to cyprus to shoot his latest musicvideo. The idea was to reference 2000s/2010s musicvideos from Florida and California. Since I had to pack lightly, I chose a small handheld setup with a selection of 70s Minolta/Olympus lenses and a sharp wideangle for the performance shots. In Grading I cranked the colors and added little visual effects to get that warm pop video look.
I had the opportunity to DP and grade for Giuliana Barthel‘s debut drama „Mutters Wunsch“. We shot on my go to clean narrative setup using the ARRI Amira and Sigma Cine Primes. A huge part of the visual storytelling came from controlled dolly and jib work provided by 5.9 Film from Hamm, GER. In Grading I went for a high contrast 35mm emulation with damp muted colors.
To showcase the variety of solutions and their manufacturing process offered by Randack Group we chose to use macro lenses to achieve a stylized version of the machine‘s perspective forging and cutting fasteners. With the CEO being a huge star wars fan we did him the favor of creating „Mandalorian-like“ Concept Art as an Outro.
The Schillo Brothers asked me to accompany them on the Deadzone video for Blind Channel. I tag teamed with Florian Gudzian to provide camera assistance and gaffer work. We used an array of Aputure LED lights, ARRI HMIs and Astera FP1. To be time efficient all LED light sources were controlled remotely. For DP Florian Berwanger we rigged out the Ursa Mini Pro for maximum run and gun ability since we had lots of ground to cover and a fixed time window.
