Dr. Dixon Chibanda, the founder of Friendship Bench Zimbabwe, is attempting to close this gap with a surprising solution: training grandmothers in evidence-based therapy to treat people in their communities at no cost. I was given the inredible opportunity to go to Zimbabwe to meet Dr. Dixon Chibanda, the Friendship Bench staff, and many of these grandmothers, and to spend a few days witnessing their inspiring work in action.
