Four monks, a royal scholar, and their American guru are fighting to save Bhutan's sacred arts while learning the art of letting go. I am directing, producing and co-editing this documentary about bringing to life esoteric Buddhist artwork in Bhutan.

Director of Photography for single interview and b-roll at the ARUP Shenzhen offices. I operated A-cam, gave lighting direction to my gaffer and operated Ronin gimbal for all steadicam shots.
Here's a sneak preview of a scene from the feature length documentary "1000 Hands of the Guru: Saving Bhutan's Sacred Arts," when the monks travel to Hawai'i for their first art restoration training and get their first taste of the Hawai'i life. And thus, magic surfboards were born! "Ka Mamakakaua" performed by Danny Carvalho and composed by Palani Vaughan.
I worked together with a WSJ journalist to produce, shoot and edit this documentary. It required me to communicate in Mandarin with a local non-profit organization that provides aid to migrant workers.
