The northern town of Kota in India is known for its coaching institutes that help students get into some of the country’s top universities. But it is also infamous for cases of suicide among students, who were believed to be under intense pressure and stress. Ravinder Bawa visited Kota and met a number of students suffering from psychological instability in their race for a bright future.

According to government figures, nearly 39,000 cases of rape were reported across India in 2016 up by about 12 percent from the year before. Put another way, that’s an average of more than 100 reported cases every day. Protests erupted IN 2018 across the country after two children were raped prompting the government to take action.
