About
Kimberly Avalos is a video and photojournalist with reporting experience in Kenya, Israel, Morocco, and the United States. She is currently based in New York City.
She is currently working at NowThis as a producer and cinematographer of original, mid-form content focused on U.S. immigration topics and climate change. She also writes and hosts explainers.
With a focus on migration, human rights issues, and climate change, Kimberly has covered issues from Sudanese 'Lost Boys' stranded in a refugee camp for decades, the rise of sustainable farming practices in post-hurricane Puerto Rico, to undocumented youth living in the United States.
She hopes her work, especially in non-narrated long form, gives agency to people, changing them from subjects to storytellers.
