Mailee Osten-Tan is a Malaysian-German and British multimedia journalist based in Bangkok, Thailand. Mailee’s work often focuses on long form, human-led storytelling that intersects with gender and minority issues. Her reporting has been commissioned by the likes of CNN, Longreads, South China Morning Post, Al Jazeera, and VICE World News. As a stringer for Getty Images and freelance photojournalist, her work has appeared in The New York Times, Der Spiegel, NBC News, and elsewhere. She is a producer for Human Pictures and Ruom Collective, a member of both Women Photograph and Diversify Photo “Up Next”, and participated in the Eddie Adams Workshop and Missouri Photo Workshop in 2022. Mailee also directs multimedia projects for third sector organisations in the Southeast Asia region. Clients have included the UN Development Programme, UNFPA, Asian Development Bank, World Health Organisation, UN Women, FHI 360, UN ESCAP, World Vision, and Pratthanadee Foundation.
