Bimina is a multimedia journalist and filmaker. She works on documentaries both collaborative and independent. She also freelances for several online publications and non-profit organizations. Bimina has collaboratively produced and directed a half hour documentary “Reviving Nepal Bhasa” focusing on near extinction of culture and language of endangered community of Newars, indigenous to central Nepal. The documentary premiered at the Hoboken International Film Festival in May 2015 and has since been screened in Nepal and India. It is also selected by Queens World film festival in 2016. In the near future, screenings are planned in Australia, UK and in the US. Her new documentary “Elderly care: the rising need” will explores the need of organized elderly care in Nepal in contrast with the Elderly care provided in the western counties.
Indigenous languages around the world are disappearing at an alarming rate. One such language is Nepal Bhasa, the language of Newars or the indigenous people of Nepal. A video piece about New York Newa Guthi established in 2007, started "Mha puja" festivities for the Newars living in New York area. Their main objective is to preserve the Newari culture and tradition and pass it on to new generation. Newars are indigenous people of Kathmandu, Nepal.
