About

I'm a 34 years old documentary filmmaker born and raised in Mexico City. Currently, I'm a student in the last semester of the master's degree in documentary filmmaking, taught at the University Center of Cinematographic Studies (CUEC) and the National School of Plastic Arts (ENAP), UNAM. I'm working on my thesis, which is a feature length documentary on water conflicts in Mexico City. I have produced documentary short films for the Culture Institute of Mexico City, about cultural development on areas with high levels of marginalization. I have also directed short documentary films that have been selected on national and international Film Festivals. Although I like documentary films based on subject's life stories, I think that when becoming a film, every theme and issue has his own narrative form that has to be found. I like to experiment with different styles, and find the one that better fits to tell a story. The topics that I like to work are related to environment, social development, arts, justice and collective memory; the stories that I like to tell are the ones that allow the audience to connect not only to local important issues, but also with universal emotions.
