Vanessa Schlesier is a freelance TV-journalist based in Berlin. Her work ranges from breaking news war-reporting to investigative human interest stories or emotional portraits. She has worked all over the Middle East, Myanmar, covered civil unrest in Bangkok and typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. Vanessa currently works on a documentary in the DRC and Germany; the movie will be published with the ZDF, one of the largest public broadcasters in Europe.
In the past she has been working for Spiegel TV, one of the top investigative television programs in Germany, uncovering IS-members posing as refugees in Germany and exposing the structures of a smuggling network operating from Turkey.
Vanessa holds a Master degree in political science from the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich, graduating from the Axel-Springer Journalism School in Berlin. She took a course in investigative journalism at Columbia Journalism School, is a fellow of the Quandt Foundation and was named one of Germanys Top 30 Journalists under 30.
