Moroccan oral Storytelling traces back over a thousand years, passing down moral lessons from generation to generation, family to family. Today, this traditional art is being marginalized by a globalizing world, so Mehdi El Gahly and Jawad Elbeid founded Hikayat Morocco as a way to preserve the art by training a new generation of storytellers.
This is a documentary I made for my Intro to Sound, Image & Motion class at the University of Tampa. It follows the process of various international students and how they came upon the idea to come to America. Why leave behind a life that's already been established for you, and start off anew somewhere else?
As Cecille sits in an airport terminal reading Gone Girl, she comes in contact with a young Natasha. This girl is so excited to finally be flying out of the country. The question is: where will she be going? This is a new short film that was directed regarding global women's issues. With these films we are trying to put a face and a story to the taboo subjects such as human trafficking.
