About

I am Mauricio Talamantes. I am a filmmaker working mostly for TV. In 2012 I produced, codirected, and shot NEGRO CIMARRÓN, a 30 min. documentary about Yanga, an african slave that founded the first free community in America recognized by the Spanish Crown, in the XVI century Veracruz. The work tells the story of this little known character while it reflects the situation of mexican afrodescendants and afromexican historry. NEGRO CIMARRÓN won a 3rd place prize by IMCINE (Mexico´s film institute) and INAH (Mexico´s Anthropology and History Institute). I´ve also directed commercial productions for E! Entertainment TV, ESPN, Sony Entertainment TV, and more, but my greatest passion in filmmaking are documentary movies. I would be very grateful to be part of this community of filmmakers that show the actuality of the world we live in.
