About
I am a freelance multimedia journalist and documentary film producer based between Kenya and Canada. My work focuses on human rights, security, and the extractive industries. Previously, I worked for the Integrated Regional Information Networks (IRIN), a humanitarian news service of the United Nations, as a reporter and producer. With IRIN, I reported and produced films on stories ranging from migrants held indefinitely in Benghazi’s detention centres and children in prisons in Kinshasa, to house demolitions and land expropriation by the Israeli military in the West Bank. My work has appeared in Al Jazeera English, CCTV’s Faces of Africa, Agence France Presse, BBC's Focus on Africa magazine, Pambazuka Press and others. I recently completed an independent investigative documentary on gold mining in Tanzania and I am currently filming a documentary about the “war on terror” in East Africa.
