ArtSail: Coral Sonata
Artist Caecilia Tripp and sound architect Kerwin Rolland spent most of the month of June 2019 in Miami for our fourth ARTSail residency to date. Their goal: to capture original audio across healthy as well as damaged coral reefs to investigate and document regional impacts of man-made global warming. The recording will be used to create The Coral Sonata, a new musical score by Caecilia with Kerwin’s technical assistance. Over the course of three weeks we undertook two boat expeditions, multiple visits and recording sessions with our partners Rescue a Reef at the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science and a series of meetings with local cultural producers, curators and climate activists.
