I was born and raised in Guadalajara, one of the biggest, most populated and culturally diverse cities in Mexico, and yet, one of the metropolis with least care for its own historical identity. You can walk around downtown and watch all kinds of colonial buildings falling apart; beautiful XIX century houses demolished and built instead expensive condominiums or corporative buildings; old cinemas turned into porn cinemas, furniture stores, religious centers or even just abandoned for some kind of lawsuit. Those are the kind of stories I love to find in my hometown, I try to preserve cultural values through my work as a documentary filmmaker and chef.
