MEE is an independently funded online news organisation that was founded in February 2014. We aim to be the primary portal of Middle East news and our target audience are all those communities of readers living in and around the region that care deeply for its fate.
MEE looks at issues from a Middle Eastern perspective and does not tailor our coverage for a specific audience. We aim to bring local voices to the fore in analysis that isn’t shaped to suit political or financial agendas.

We have a large and constantly growing network of freelance correspondents and columnists covering 24 countries, with this coverage strengthened by content from influential think-tanks, news agencies and syndicated content from other quality online publications.

AJ+ is a global news community for the connected generation. We highlight human struggles and achievements, empower impassioned voices, and challenge the status quo.  <br>  It's is Al Jazeera's mobile app and social stream dedicated for the connected generation.

Our VJ are used to leverage original short  and personal form of storytelling from the ground.

AJ+ VJ stories are not normal news.  A straight-forward look at who, what, when, where doesn’t work for us.  We are looking for stories that are made interesting by the unexpected angle, human side, or visually captivating.   Ask yourself does this story move me or does it just inform me? 
 
Here are some aspects of what makes an AJ+ story:
Unique side angle on a major story.  Also a story that connects two things not commonly associated with each other.
Pushback to conventional wisdom on how the mainstream media (including Al Jazeera) or governments frame an issue.  
Emotional or compassionate side of a story.  Show specifically how people are directly affected by the issue (Emotions go beyond sadness can be awe, humor, anger, love, inspiration, etc…).  
Direct from the ground.  Hear directly from people in the city/town/village where the bigger story is taking place.
 Incredible visual.  Is there something we need to see (and hear) to believe?  This is video, so let’s leverage those stories.  It doesn’t have to be “hard news.”


Commissioned videos will appear at least one of AJ+'s language channels (English, Spanish, Arabic) and potentially on our partner's channels too.

Tupac is a cinematographer, journalist and documentary filmmaker. He has produced documentaries and shorts videos for Frontline World, Time/CNN, Yes Magazine, and LPB from Mexico, India, Cuba, Peru, Brazil, and Bolivia.
He has also worked as a cameraman for several award-winning documentary producers and independent filmmakers. Tupac received his Masters degree from UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism. He is passionate about human rights, the environment, martial arts and music.

Alessandra Ram is an award-winning senior producer, writer and digital strategist who has reported from Flint, Puerto Rico, Thailand, Canada, the U.S.-Mexico border and all over her home state of California. She has produced multiple episodes of the Emmy-nominated series “Direct From With Dena Takruri,” the political comedy show “Newsbroke” with Francesca Fiorentini and the acclaimed Al Jazeera program Fault Lines, winning two National Edward R. Murrow awards for her documentary work. She has led Engagement for several media organizations, including AJ+, WIRED and The Atlantic – and knows exactly how to optimize content for different platforms and write a stellar tweet. She recently launched "Checked In," a new kind of YouTube show that looks at travel in the age of social media. 

Alessandra has lived in Paris, Washington, D.C. and San Francisco. She’s been a hostess, nanny, gift wrapper and an unpaid intern (too many times). She graduated from U.C. Berkeley with degrees in Media Studies and French.
